On May 7, 2019, Phil had the honor of being the keynote speaker at the Pasadena Educational Foundation’s “Celebrating Our Schools” annual fundraising event at Pasadena City Hall. The event supports award-winning art, music and technology programs in the Pasadena Unified School District.

Phil, a Pasadena native and PUSD alum, delivered a moving speech about the lifelong impact a single teacher can have on a student by nurturing their creative passions. He spoke of a specific teacher from his own high school experience, who helped shape his career path and whose positive impact still ripples through his life today. Another highlight of the event was the Interactive Student Showcase, where PUSD students shared their art, design and technology projects with the audience.

The event was attended by PUSD leaders and champions, along with Pasadena community leaders, including Mayor Terry Tornek, and State of California government representatives. It was a beautiful evening in support of a wonderful cause, capped off with significant donations to the PEF, including a very generous gift from Phil.
